Resolution Readers (: In-Person
Ages 10-18, grades 5-12. So many people are focused on physical exercise during the New Year, but how about exercising our brains??? Love to read and want get your book count higher for 2026? Want to become a more active reader for your New Year's Resolution? Come and hang out with Ms. Missi in the Meeting Room at 2:00PM for a nice, quiet place to read in the company of similarly goal-oriented peers! Bring your own book, or come a little early to pick out one of our in-house titles. Those who prefer audiobooks are welcome to bring their headphones for their own device, or an aux-cord to listen to one of our play-away audiobooks (feel free to bring a low maintenance craft [ex. knitting, crochet] to keep your hands busy). Registration required, guardian consent for those 12 & under. Fun facts below:
- Reading log printouts will be provided, a variety for appropriate reading levels
- Bookmarks will be provided!
- Feel free to wear something comfy to settle into your stories
- Fiction readers, in particular, have been proven to have a higher capacity for empathy. So come get lost in a character filled story, and build upon your own character and heart!
- "Mirroring" is an excellent, scientifically proven way for people to actively participate in activities; sitting in a room full of readers is helpful for some learning styles/neurodiversity to become actively engaged in their own reading
